New Ipad Mini Knock-off With Calling Capabilities Will Sell For $210 / €162

Posted on

Frequently you genuinely must simplify when looking out for relevant information in a sea of clutter. I think this is a fantastic explanation a lot of the fundamental points to know about.

Meet the funnily named Pipo UT8 which obviously comes bundling a 7.85-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, as said by Notebook Italia . As expected the tablet draws power from a Rockchip RK3188 (Cortex A9) quad-core processor accompanied by 2GB of RAM and backed up by 16GB of internal storage (expandable via the microSD card). The Pipo UT8 offers the whole host of specifications you might expect to see on a clone like this, so it has 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS and also G-sensor, gyroscope, light sensor and digital compass. The slate also allows users to place phone calls and is compatible with the WCDMA / HSPA and GSM / GPRS / EDGE networks. The 4700 mAh battery should provide a decent 7-8 hours life to the slate, better than other budget offering I have written about. The default operating system is Android 4.2.2 but since a lot of white-box Chinese makers are pushing the Android 4.4 update I wouldnt be surprise if this tablet receives it as well. The device will ship for $210 / 162 but its currently available only for pre-order in China. FILED UNDER:

Supply Pinch Dogs Microsoft’s Surface Tablets

Posted on

While there’s nothing new below the sun, there’s usually something new to study each day. Let’s take a check out the editorial below and see if there is something of use.

Are the new Surface tablets flying off the shelves or just not reaching the shelves? That’s not clear because Microsoft doesn’t provide sales numbers, but limited supply — not excessive popularity — of the tablets appears to be a factor. The Windows 8.1-based Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 models have been largely “out of stock” at Microsoft Stores — both the physical stores and online stores. This situation has persisted during much of the holiday season, spanning November and December, according to Microsoft Store sales representatives contacted by CNET. Take this weekend, for example. The online Microsoft Store, as of Saturday morning, shows only the 512GB model of the Surface Pro 2 available for $1,799 . (Update: the online store later on Saturday showed the 256GB model also available.) Related stories Microsoft-Intel 2-in-1 tablets have legs but still wobbly The Windows RT-based Surface 2 is also out of stock at the online store.
